Male child marriage: undercurrents
In child marriages, underage boys are not immune. Putting aside the inertia of thinking, boys are also victims. They are also facing a loss of education, life choices, and a higher risk of infection with infectious diseases (including AIDS).
In the Central African Republic, 27.9% of men are victims of child marriage.
In Nicaragua and Madagascar, the figures were 19.4% and 12.9%, respectively.
According to the data of the United Nations and the World Bank, the 20 countries with the highest rates of female child marriages are low-income or low-middle-income countries. In countries with a high rate of male child marriages, their national income levels are not the same.
Note: Nepal, South Sudan, and Eritrea have no per capita GDP data in 2017.
